& Land Use Grants
- Big Otter Elementary School - This grant will provide
a playground for the brand new Big Otter Elementary School that is located
off 1-79 near the Big Otter Exit.- $25,000
- Bridge Road Neighborhood Association, Inc. - This
project will complete Phase III of the Bridge Road Neighborhood
Association's Streetscape Plan by developing an additional green space and
public gathering area, including upgrading pedestrian accessibility to
comply with ADA guidelines, improving vehicular and pedestrian safety, and
adding landscaping, lighting, additional parking spaces, and public seating.

- Capital Area Development Corporation of West Virginia
- Charleston Gateway Greenspace is transforming an ordinary asphalt parking
lot across from the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences into an attractive
entrance into the City of Charleston. The site will address several of the
state’s outdoor recreation priorities by establishing critical urban
greenspace, a trail head for cycling, and providing a safe, educational
pedestrian space. - $10,000
- Capital City Striders - This grant is to support the
Track/Field program to both the 165 returning runners as well as new
participants. Through the launching of a web site and the help of
Home-School representatives the program is now reaching youth with no school
affiliation. - $10,000
- Clay County Board of Education - This grant will
provide new furniture for the Clay County Pool and a public address system
for announcements. - $5,048
- Clay County Little League - This grant will help meet
Little League safety regulations and increase the number of children served
by providing a new fence around the 3rd field and adding more
space to play. - $8,522
- Fayette County Education Fund Inc. - The Wolf Creek
Park Nature and Science Center is entering its second phase of planned
development, organizers are seeking funding for an 18-month work plan for
the strategic planning of each proposed core programming area, such as
sustainable technologies and after school nature programs and the initiation
of these pilot programs. - $15,000
- Lincoln County Parks and Recreation, Commission, Inc.
- As phase two of Ranger Community Park, we are constructing a little league
ball field; fencing, a backstop and bleachers are in place. This grant will
assist with dugouts to complete this phase and to meet a recreational need
in this rural community. - $3,000
- Lincoln County Schools – Lincoln County Schools and
Southwestern Head Start are opening a preschool center at the former Yeager
Career Center where three collaborative 4-year old classrooms will be
located. This project will provide a playground area for the children. -

- Little League Baseball, Inc. - This grant will extend
the concession stand, add two handicap assessable bathrooms, and purchase
new equipment for the league and community use. - $7,000
- Midwestern Midget Football Club, Inc. - The Club is in
need of the required periodic safety equipment reconditioning and subsequent
replacement for up to 85 helmets. Additionally, we need to add storage racks
for our helmets and shoulder pads as proper storage will prolong the useful
life of the equipment; and to purchase one blocking sled and other hand held
equipment to use as teaching tools for young student athletes to learn
proper techniques. - $5,000
- Putnam County Parks and Recreation Commission - This
project will provide a comfort station that will house handicap accessible
restrooms male/female and a public water fountain in our County Park. -

- South Charleston High School (SCHS) - The SCHS Indoor
Hitting Facility Completion Project will provide a safe and low cost option
in which a greater number of area youths may continue to participate in year
round physical activity and training. - $25,000
- YMCA of Kanawha Valley - A New Clendenin is a project
that is remodeling and refurbishing the Clendenin Middle School to provide a
safe haven for after-school children and youth. It will also provide
daycare during the day for many single working parents that live in this
particular area. - $12,000
