Six Steps to Prepare and Apply for a 2008 Grant Application

 

Instructions and Requirements:

 

A.        Hardware:  Applicants must have access to a scanner and the Internet with a web browser that allows cookies.   

B.        Software requirements:  Microsoft Word for Narrative, Excel for budgets,  

            and pdf. or jpg. for scanned documents.

C.        Read application guidelines. Have all necessary information ready to complete your application online. The online application requires responses to all of the questions outlined in our application.  The system will allow you to save and return to an in-process application for subsequent completion.

D.        You should prepare your answers in a Microsoft Word document and cut and paste your answers into the appropriate boxes on the online application where requested.  You should prepare answers to the following sections of the applications:  Proposal Narrative (1-7 pages), Impact and Evaluation (1-4 pages), Sustainability Plan (1 page) and Budget Narrative (1-3 pages). Do not use any formatting such as italics, font changes, justification, underlining, bullets, etc., just separate paragraphs with a line space. 

E.         You will create a password to complete the application in multiple sessions, if necessary.  Be sure to save your work between sessions. Your work will be lost if it is not saved. 

F.         Attach all required documents to complete your grant application. Do not

            attach any non-required documents such as annual reports or brochures.

G.        Save your work often. If you have not saved your application it can not be retrieved and you must re-enter all of your information. 

H.        If you experience technical difficulties with the online application or you

Review all six steps before you complete any of the steps. 

 

Step 1:            Gather all required information. Scan each of the following documents and attach to the application:

 

·        Current Financial Information: agency budget and project budget

·        Most recent annual audit or Form 990

·        IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit determination letter

·        Current Board of Directors list

·        Letters from financial, collaborative or programmatic

partners in the proposed project

·        Three quotes or bids for single items over $1,000

 

 

Step 2:            Complete Eligibility Requirements

 

You will complete an eligibility quiz as the first step of the online application

 

Step 3:            Review Grant Application Guidelines on The Greater Kanawha

Step 4:            Review and complete the application form.

 

Step 5:            * Click here to start the TGKVF online grant application process

 

Step 6:              Review grant application for completeness and click the submit button     only once.   If you have not saved your application, it can not be retrieved and you must re-enter all of your information.

·        The application has not been submitted until you hit the submit button. If you hit cancel, your information will be lost.

·        After your application has been submitted, make sure that you print a copy for your records.

·        You will receive an email to confirm receipt of your application. Be sure to keep this email to refer back to your account.  The Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation dos not have access to your password or account.
